Alternative media

Α study on alternative media for e-learning has been conducted by expert researchers, to review recent developments on the topic. This study addresses two issues: firstly, access to e-learning for rural areas that have not adequate infrastructure (ie broadband) to connect efficiently to the internet, and secondly innovative learning and teaching approaches introduced through new interactive ICT tools such as web 2.0 wikis, podcasts etc. The possibility of using alternative media instead of or in addition to computers is examined, including combinations of mobile telephones, ipods or DVDs in combination with the introduction of new didactic approaches that divert from the conventional models, based on interaction and simulation.
